Have you ever had your life unfold in a way that you couldn’t imagine?
That would sum up how I felt when I was given the idea of creating a retreat center. Retreat? Who has time for that?
Then I realized that I am the perfect spokesperson for the various retreats we offer, because I don’t fit the bill for whom we might typecast into the role.
Carolyn’s Silent Aha!s
Like many people, I’m rarely silent in my daily life.
I’m outgoing and gregarious. Some friends even teased that I wouldn’t be able to be silent.
Yet I came to see that the nights I stayed up late, long after all of the family went to bed, weren’t really about getting more done. It was silent in the house. Peaceful. Quiet. Calm.
There was a part of me that needed that quiet, alone time. And seven years ago, when I was unexpectedly placed in silence at a personal growth seminar, I fell in love with silence and have created retreats and made space for it in my life ever since.
Carolyn’s Women Aha!s
The women’s work flowed out quite naturally. I have always been an advocate for women, from the time my brothers bullied me and I watched my mom’s work in our family be undervalued and overlooked.
I created a corporate women’s retreat, helped start a women’s network and traveled the country speaking & training organization on how to work with & honor women.
I have always gravitated towards organizations that support women. Women are my passion and I delight in bringing them events and wisdom that fills them up, feeds their spirits and helps them improve their lives. I love helping women stand and live in their power.
Carolyn’s Relationship Aha!s
One of the biggest areas of joy for me is my relationships. Isn’t this so true of most women?
And the primary relationship in my life, beyond my relationship with myself, is the one I’ve had for over 25 years with my husband. It’s always been very good—an example and beacon for other people.
And yet about eight years ago we took it from good to great and growing. We attended a workshop together that changed everything. I was so amazed I brought the workshop to Boise to share with friends and family, and then I began to blend that work with the gender work I have always been so passionate about.
What has resulted is life changing for both women and men. Is there anything better than having new love energy and excitement come into your relationship?
It is my deepest pleasure to pay forward the perspective that women and men are beautiful together–when we understand how to honor our differences.
